Welcome to the APAY e-learning tool!
The YMCA has a long tradition of youth exchanges for service learning programs. These activities imply mobility, travel and encounter with other cultures, activities that are related to tourism. With its Global Alternative Tourism Network, APAY has established a programme which seeks to develop responsible and sustainable tourism.
The Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs is constantly striving for the empowerment of the YMCA youth of our region so that they can be sensitive towards the environment, enrich their wisdom about the dynamics of climate change and be responsive to mitigation and adaptation of climate change in their respective countries through meaningful action programs.
In order to materialize this objective, APAY runs various programs for our youths like trainings, workshops and conferences. Resources constraints often confine our endeavors to limited number of beneficiaries. With the introduction of this on-line training, we hope we can overcome such hindrances and reach to unlimited number of youth who wish to devote themselves to advocacy and lobby for our environmental protection and to combat climate change.
This online course will enrich our youth in climate change science, climate justice, sustainable tourism development, mitigation and adaptation issues and help to face the adversaries of climate change in the most appropriate way.
This tool also will help to explain the important relation between climate change and tourism, and will try to show some alternatives and help to promote a responsible and sustainable tourism, which brings not only benefits for the tourism industry but also to the people whose livelihood depends on tourism.
We envision a community of enlightened youths dedicated towards the promotion of the environment.NAM Boo Won
